Introduction

We are seeking talented and passionate Web3 Research Scientists to join our innovative Blockchain Research team. This role offers a unique opportunity to bridge cutting-edge academic research with practical, production-ready technology within the Aptos ecosystem. You will play a crucial role in shaping the future of decentralized systems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with the engineering team to translate state-of-the-art research into tangible technological advancements.
• Conduct exploratory and applied research across various domains, including but not limited to: consensus mechanisms, privacy-preserving technologies, blockchain security, incentive design, smart contract development, and performance optimization.
• Lead research projects from conception through to top-tier academic publication and successful integration into production systems.
• Contribute to the broader research community and Aptos's thought leadership.

Requirements

• PhD in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
• Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Distributed Systems
  • Cryptography and Security
  • Programming Languages (especially for blockchain contexts)
  • Game Theory
• Demonstrated passion for seeing research ideas implemented and impactful in a production environment.
• Ability to function as a full-stack researcher, from theoretical exploration to practical implementation.
• Proven track record of leading research projects, ideally resulting in top-tier publications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.

Nice to Have

• Experience with blockchain technologies and Web3 development.
• Familiarity with the Move programming language or Rust.
• Prior experience contributing to open-source projects.
