About the Position

Introduction

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Risk Oversight Lead specializing in International Payments to join our Consumer 2nd Line of Defense (2LOD) Risk Management organization. This Vice President-level role is critical in safeguarding our cross-border payment operations, including traditional wires and emerging blockchain transactions. You will be instrumental in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks such as fraud, scams, compliance, and operational vulnerabilities in a rapidly evolving global financial landscape.

Responsibilities

Provide independent oversight, guidance, and challenge to the first line of defense (front-line business units) to ensure risks associated with wires and blockchain payments are effectively managed and remain within the organization’s risk appetite.
Evaluate new payment features or modifications to existing services to ensure comprehensive risk identification and appropriate control implementation by the Product team.
Collaborate with product teams and possess in-depth knowledge of international payment flows to identify potential fraud, scam scenarios, and operational/reputational risks.
Develop and implement robust risk management frameworks and policies tailored to the unique complexities of both traditional fiat and digital assets.
Partner closely with Legal, Compliance, and Controls teams to address emerging issues and provide timely, actionable guidance.
Communicate critical product challenges and risk insights to senior leadership, contributing to strategic decisions and continuous improvement in risk management practices.
Deconstruct and explain complex concepts and issues in a business-friendly manner to senior and executive management.

Requirements

Minimum of 6+ years of experience in risk management, specifically within the payments, banking, or financial services industry with international exposure.
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
Deep understanding of international payment systems (e.g., SWIFT, remittances, real-time payments) and digital asset protocols, as well as relevant global regulatory landscapes.
Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships across global teams.
Ability to defend positions and influence with quantitative analysis developed with an analytical team.
Working knowledge of cross-border controls used to mitigate inherent risk in Digital and Blockchain transactions.
