About the Position

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Integrations team, you will be responsible for defining and building the necessary APIs and infrastructure that allow various external services to integrate with Figma seamlessly. This team is at the intersection of a diverse ecosystem of tools and services crucial to designers' daily workflows. You'll contribute not only to building robust systems but also to empowering other teams within Figma to extend our platform. This role involves significant technical leadership, including collaborating on multi-functional projects, mentoring other engineers, and driving architectural decisions.

What you'll do:

Design, build, and maintain high-performance, scalable APIs for both internal and external integrators.
Collaborate with product managers and other engineering teams to define integration requirements and ensure successful delivery.
Provide technical leadership for complex projects across the team and with other teams.
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, helping them grow their technical and professional skills.
Work with our Developer Relations and Partner teams to ensure that our APIs meet the needs of all our developers.
Contribute to the overall architecture and design of Figma's platform, advocating for best practices in API design, scalability, and reliability.

Experience you'll bring:

8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on building and scaling complex backend systems and APIs.
Demonstrated experience in technical leadership, including leading projects, mentoring engineers, and making significant architectural contributions.
Strong command of a modern backend language such as TypeScript, Go, Python, or Ruby.
Deep understanding of API design principles (REST, GraphQL) and best practices.
Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and distributed systems.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
