Introduction

Morpho, a leading Decentralized Finance (DeFi) lending protocol, is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer. This role involves building and owning backend systems for Morpho's consumer-facing products, including reliable and performant APIs and data pipelines that serve accurate financial data to users at scale.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend features using TypeScript and Node.js to deliver product outcomes for the Morpho Consumer team.
• Design and evolve GraphQL APIs and data models for accurate, secure financial data with sub-second response times.
• Operate and improve PostgreSQL-backed data pipelines to ensure performance, reliability, and availability as transaction volumes grow.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers and product to scope, ship, and iterate on end-to-end features.
• Identify and implement architecture improvements: data processing, caching, and API layer design.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues to maintain a high-quality user experience.
• Write clear, concise documentation and async updates for stakeholder alignment.

Requirements

• 8-10+ years of backend development experience in production TypeScript/Node.js environments.
• Hands-on experience with GraphQL APIs and relational databases, especially PostgreSQL.
• Experience working on a backend-for-frontend stack or collaborating closely with frontend teams.
• Track record operating production systems at scale, focusing on reliability, observability, and performance.
• Strong interest in the Web3 ecosystem and comfort learning the DeFi domain.
• Comfort operating in fast-changing, ambiguous environments.
• Strong ownership and autonomy, taking responsibility for end-to-end outcomes.
• Clear and crisp async communication to align distributed teams.
• Team-first mindset, low ego, and humble approach.
