About the Position

Introduction

As a Staff Designer on the Integrated Assistance team at DeepMind, you will be the primary architect for Gemini’s presence across mobile platforms and system-level overlays. Your mission is to move beyond traditional UI to create a personalized, context-aware assistant natively integrated into users' digital lives.

This role is ideal for designers who embrace the 'vibe coding' philosophy, using AI-assisted tools like Cursor, Replit, and Lovable to bridge the gap between design and engineering. You will prototype multimodal interactions and simulate complex LLM responses in real-time, moving beyond static mockups.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and evolution of Gemini Assistant across mobile platforms and system-level overlays.
Prototype multimodal interactions and simulate complex LLM responses using AI-assisted tools.
Lead cross-functional squads to bring radical AI concepts into shippable products.
Apply expertise in motion, visual, and interaction design to ensure generative AI is powerful, ethical, accessible, and delightful.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
10+ years of experience.
Expertise in motion, visual, and interaction design.
Experience with AI-assisted tools like Cursor, Replit, and Lovable for prototyping.
Strong understanding of conversational AI, LLMs, and generative AI.
Proficient in user-centered design, systems thinking, and prototyping.
Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, and Adobe Creative Suite.

Nice to Have

Experience with Principle, Origami Studio, or Protopie.
Knowledge of natural language processing and ethical AI principles.
Background in front-end development, machine learning, neuroscience, or systems engineering.
