Software Engineer, Post-Training Research (Full-Stack)

Introduction

OpenAI's Post-Training team is seeking a self-starting Full-Stack Software Engineer to rapidly prototype and develop internal tools and visualizations for researchers. This role is crucial for preparing models for real-world deployment to millions of users, ensuring they are safe, efficient, and reliable.

Responsibilities

• Rapidly prototype and build tooling or visualization for researchers.
• Collaborate with research teams to build comprehensive full-stack tooling.
• Design, implement, test, and debug code across the entire stack.
• Proactively refactor codebases to ensure maintainability and quality.

Requirements

• Strong background in writing maintainable, testable, and clean code.
• A strong preference for code quality, refactoring, and building robust internal codebases.
• Experience building products that end-users interact with, or developing internal tools.
• Proven ability to ship products quickly amidst competing priorities or deadlines.
• Proficiency with Python.
• A team player willing to take on a variety of tasks to advance team goals.

Nice to Have

• Experience with machine learning visualization techniques.
• Familiarity with large-scale data pipelines.
