Introduction

Common Room is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join their team. Common Room is an AI GTM Platform that provides AI agents built on complete buyer intelligence. We aim to unify all signals across the buyer journey into a single, continuously updated, person-level view. This enables GTM teams to effectively identify targets, craft relevant messages, and optimize outreach timing. We replace fragmented data and disconnected tools with a unified platform designed for scale and complexity, bringing together data, orchestration, and execution for organizations of 75-1000+ employees.

Responsibilities

As a Backend Software Engineer, your role is pivotal in learning about the product, business, and technology, independently owning and delivering features. You will be responsible for:

• Building robust APIs for other engineers to solve customer problems.
• Ensuring systems are efficient, scalable, and reliable.
• Maintaining Common Room’s core internal capabilities, infrastructure, and systems, staying ahead of product needs.
• Identifying and contributing to critical company-building initiatives essential for a rapidly growing startup.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Ability to operate independently while knowing when to seek help and support.
• Passion for your craft, with the capability to lead large backend projects.
• Effective collaboration skills with other experienced engineers, including application/front-end engineers.
• Sound judgment in evaluating tradeoffs and selecting appropriate tools, preferring stable and supported technologies over trendy ones.
• Customer-centric approach to system design, with an enjoyment for creating simple, elegant solutions.
• Consideration for observability, SLA, and scalability implications, while avoiding premature optimization.
• Proficiency with AWS, Postgres, and Node.js.
• Commitment to bringing your authentic self to work and engaging in candid, respectful feedback.
• Ability to build sustainably and manage time and priorities effectively.
• Enthusiasm for both the process and outcome of your work.
• Demonstrates pride, ownership, and accountability in your work, and expects the same from colleagues.
