Introduction

JPMorgan Chase & Co is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join their Global Technology Applied Research team in London. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge 'moonshot' projects, pushing the boundaries of technology and directly impacting clients and the financial industry. Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deliver innovative prototypes leveraging frontier technologies.
• Collaborate closely with researchers and engineers to translate concepts into impactful solutions.
• Develop robust packages for prototypes and business demonstrations, facilitating the transition from lab to product.
• Lead and support library development and architectural design for emerging technology solutions.
• Implement high-performance and security-critical algorithms primarily in Rust or C++.
• Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to inform strategic direction and innovation.
• Communicate complex technical insights and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences through clear documentation and presentations.

Requirements

• Education: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Algorithmic Expertise: Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing quantitative algorithms.
• Programming Languages: Proficiency in object-oriented, low-level languages such as Rust or C++, and experience with Python or similar high-level languages.
• Development Practices: Familiarity with modern development tools, software packaging, version control (e.g., Git), and cloud platforms.
• Cloud Experience: Experience with cloud deployments.
• Communication & Collaboration: Strong communication skills and a collaborative, continuous learning mindset. Ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences and drive cross-functional collaboration.
• Innovation: Proven ability to innovate and deliver technology solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience implementing cryptographic protocols.
• Experience accelerating algorithms using FPGA or GPU (CUDA).
• Experience within financial systems.
• Experience in Machine Learning (ML)/Artificial Intelligence (AI) or blockchain research and development.
