Introduction

OpenAI is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to lead cross-functional security, privacy, IT, and compliance initiatives. This role is crucial for securing our infrastructure, protecting sensitive data, and ensuring compliance as our powerful AI systems, like ChatGPT and the OpenAI API, scale to serve millions globally.

Responsibilities

• Drive the execution of critical security and compliance programs, including vulnerability management, M&A security integration, infrastructure hardening, and datacenter security management. This involves deep collaboration on technical architecture and problem resolution with engineering teams.
• Partner with IT, Infrastructure, Application, Legal, Privacy, and Security teams to develop scalable programs and deliver vital security outcomes across various disciplines, such as insider threat, information security, physical security, and information technology.
• Establish scalable frameworks and build programs for key security initiatives including vulnerability management, evidence collection, incident response coordination, supply chain risk management, and device security.
• Monitor and enforce OpenAI’s privacy and security requirements by translating commitments into engineering milestones and ensuring their complete implementation across all systems.
• Create and maintain program-level visibility into risk areas, security milestones, and cross-organizational dependencies, ensuring reliable and high-quality outcomes.
• Clearly communicate status, risks, tradeoffs, and decisions to both technical and executive audiences, while driving cross-functional execution with urgency and care.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience leading complex technical programs focused on infrastructure security, data privacy, compliance, or enterprise platform capabilities.
• Deep fluency in the intersection of engineering systems, security controls, and regulatory expectations, with the ability to bring clarity and structure to these areas.
• Proven track record of successfully driving highly cross-functional efforts involving engineering, infrastructure, legal, compliance, and product stakeholders.
