    About the Position

    Introduction

    NVIDIA, a leader in GPU technology and AI computing, is looking for a Senior System Software Engineer specializing in OpenBMC for GPU Server platforms. Join a team focused on redefining computing and advancing technology.

    Responsibilities

    • Design and implement OpenBMC Firmware for GPU Server platforms, with an emphasis on Arm architecture.
    • Perform hands-on work with BMC firmware bring-up, performance analysis, and the development of manageability features for NVIDIA's Server platforms.
    • Develop and review code, write and review design documents, and review QA test plans, collaborating closely with team members for design and testability.
    • Design solutions for errors, statistics, and configuration relevant to CPU, GPU, DIMM, SSDs, NICs, IB, PSU, BMC, FPGA, CPLD, etc., ensuring enterprise readiness of NVIDIA Server platforms.
    • Design and develop performance-optimized active monitoring BMC solutions utilizing DMTF Standards, including MCTP, Redfish, SPDM, and PLDM specifications.
    • Instrument code for maximum coverage, write and automate unit tests for implemented modules, and maintain detailed unit test case reports.
    • Provide software quality reports based on static analysis, code coverage, and CPU load.
    • Work with the security team to align developed code with product security goals, and collaborate with hardware teams to influence hardware design and review architecture/schematics.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor of Science Degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
    • 8+ years of experience.
    • Domain expertise in BMC Firmware development on X86 or ARM Platforms, including BMC-BIOS communication, thermal management, power management, firmware updates, device monitoring, and firmware security.
    • Board Bring-up expertise with hands-on experience in device drivers (I2C/I3C, SPI, PCIe, SMBus, Mail-box) and device trees for uboot and Linux kernel.
    • OOB or In-band System Management experience with exposure to standards such as IPMI, KCS, DMTF Standards (PLDM, MCTP, Redfish), PMBus, NVMe.
    • Understanding of REST architecture style, particularly JSON over HTTPs with OAuth.
    • Strong programming and scripting skills in C/C++, Bash, Python, Go, etc., for both Linux user-space and system programs.
    • Thorough code reviewing skills.
    • Strong knowledge of Linux fundamentals, various Linux distributions and packages, Linux upgrade mechanisms, and building/deploying Linux images.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong work ethic, high sense of teamwork, commitment to quality, and a self-starter who finds creative solutions to challenging problems.

    Nice to Have

    • Contributor to industry standards like Open Compute, OpenBMC, IPMI, DMTF Standards, and open source projects.
    • Expertise in system software and platform security for x86/ARM based Rack/Blade server systems.
