About the Position

Introduction

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Staff Engineer (Tech Lead) to join our Payments Team at Mollie. As a Senior Staff Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction and success of our payment platform. You will lead complex projects, mentor other engineers, and contribute to the architectural design of critical systems.

Responsibilities

Lead the technical design, development, and implementation of new features and services within Mollie's payment platform.
Act as a technical expert and mentor for other engineers, guiding them in best practices, code quality, and problem-solving.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Drive architectural discussions and decisions, ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of our systems.
Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and maintain high code quality standards.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and tools.
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, applying them where appropriate to enhance our platform.

Requirements

Proven experience (8+ years) as a senior or staff-level software engineer, with a strong focus on payment systems or financial technology.
Expertise in designing and building highly scalable, distributed, and fault-tolerant systems.
In-depth knowledge of payment protocols, APIs, and industry standards (e.g., PCI DSS, ISO 20022).
Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go).
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Nice to Have

Experience with blockchain technology or distributed ledger systems.
Familiarity with machine learning techniques for fraud detection and risk management.
Contributions to open-source projects or a strong personal portfolio.
