Senior Staff Engineer (Platform)

We are hiring a Senior Staff Engineer to guide the technical vision and collaborate with engineering leaders and various teams to ensure alignment of priorities, goals, and technical decisions across the engineering organization. You enjoy working with different levels of the organization across people, technology, and products to shape and deliver Mollie’s long-term technical strategy and vision. You are a natural leader with an impressive track record of building complex systems through strong technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration. What you'll be doing Drive Mollie’s long-term technical direction across multiple domains. Help drive technical alignment and decision-making on cross-functional technical initiatives (architectural designs, major refactorings, security improvements, etc.). Proactively identify critical technical needs, challenges, and risks across the organization and propose innovative solutions. Foster a culture of technical excellence and mentor staff+ engineers across the organization. Work hand-in-hand with senior engineering leaders to guide the technical strategy, priorities, initiatives, and roadmaps within Mollie Engineering. Create a strong technical vision and foster innovation within the teams by introducing new technologies and best practices. Collaborate with product, design, and other stakeholders to understand the business needs and translate them into a scalable and impactful technical platform. What you'll need Proven experience as a Staff Engineer (or equivalent leadership role) in complex domains/organizations. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience with various architectural styles, distributed systems, and cloud-native technologies, preferably with experience in high-load, high-availability environments. Experience solving complex technical problems across different teams and domains in larger organizations. Strong understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices. Experience with Go, Python, or JVM-based languages. Fluency in English (our company language). Nice to have Experience in the FinTech/Payment Industry. Experience implementing and supporting highly available distributed systems that scale to millions of transactions a day. Experience with event-driven architecture, Kafka, and Kubernetes.
