Introduction

Zip is looking for a Senior Software Engineer for their Developer Platform team. This role focuses on designing and building scalable architecture, tooling, and processes to enhance engineering velocity and ship enterprise-quality software. The ideal candidate will be a technical leader providing architectural guidance and leveraging AI-assisted tools to accelerate software development.

Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives to ensure new features are performant and reliable, developing innovative frameworks for testing challenges.
• Accelerate software development by driving the adoption of AI-driven tools, from IDEs to code reviews and test generators.
• Enhance velocity and productivity by identifying and eliminating friction in development environments, testing patterns, CI pipelines, deployment processes, and feature flag conventions.
• Improve product quality and codebase health by analyzing legacy patterns, building new frameworks, and establishing guardrails for best practices.
• Optimize the customer experience by systematically enhancing platform-layer frameworks and preventing issues.
• Develop a new deployment and release process to enable daily deployments, ensuring customer safety through canaries, traffic replay, and bundled feature releases for Enterprise customers.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software engineering experience.
• BS or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field (e.g., physics or math).
• Experience with modern CI tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Buildkite, Jenkins, and Docker.
• Strong attention to detail and ownership mindset.
• Ability to diagnose obstacles, debug friction, and drive velocity.
