Introduction

Galaxy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our Custody and Staking Engineering team in New York City. This role is crucial for developing and supporting the robust systems that manage fiat and crypto assets on our cutting-edge prime brokerage platform for institutional clients. Responsibilities

• Design and architect large new features and services on a cloud-native platform, focusing on increasing automation and ensuring the integrity and security of our custody systems.
• Enhance and continuously build out our internal and external-facing transaction and inventory management systems.
• Enhance and continuously build out our internal and external-facing staking workflow management systems.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other backend teams supporting trading, lending, and settlement operations, as well as frontend UI/UX teams and dev-ops/infrastructure teams.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Solid computer science fundamentals.
• Proven track record in software design and development.
• Expert software engineering skills in Java, Scala, Kotlin, C#, or similar (our primary language is Java).
• In-depth knowledge of object-oriented programming fundamentals.
• Strong communication skills, keen attention to detail, a readiness to challenge assumptions, and a passion for building and owning quality software.
• Familiarity with the full development lifecycle of a commercial system, including requirements definition, agile planning, production deployment, and production support.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging systems.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or other containerization technologies.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience working in finance or fintech.
• Technical understanding of crypto and digital assets.
• Familiarity with asynchronous and reactive software.
• Familiarity with domain-driven design and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with reactive frameworks/toolkits like Vert.x.
• Understanding of the Java threading model and concurrency-related concepts.
