Introduction

Front is a customer operations platform designed for complex B2B interactions, synchronizing teams, tools, and customer conversations to enable scalable growth without losing personal connection. This role is for a Senior Software Engineer on the Foundations team, which is central to enabling other engineering teams to build efficiently and confidently by owning the backend frameworks, libraries, and internal systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain shared backend frameworks, libraries, and internal tooling used across all engineering teams at Front.
• Design and implement highly reliable, observable, and performant systems, including the event-driven task queue, batch job framework, database ORM, and real-time event infrastructure.
• Own and evolve the CI/CD systems to ensure fast, reliable, and secure delivery pipelines.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to understand their needs, establish shared patterns, and drive the adoption of new frameworks.
• Influence Front's overall backend architecture and define company-wide engineering standards.
• Navigate ambiguous problems, define key challenges, and deliver complex solutions.

Requirements

• Strong experience as a backend JavaScript/TypeScript engineer (this role does not involve frontend development).
• Proven experience building frameworks, libraries, and/or internal developer-facing tools.
• Experience designing and implementing distributed systems with a focus on reliability, observability, and performance.
• Exceptional software design fundamentals and a track record of successfully delivering complex projects.
• Clear, structured thinking and strong communication skills to articulate technical tradeoffs to fellow engineers.
• Comfort with ambiguity, capable of driving clarity and executing projects without a fully defined roadmap.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, low-ego, and high-growth environment.

Nice to Have

• Deep experience with TypeScript performance optimization.
• Previous experience on platform or enablement teams at a product-led company.
