Senior Project Manager

Introduction

Backbase is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Project Manager to lead complex projects within our dynamic organization in Toronto, Canada. You will oversee the entire project lifecycle, from initiation to closure, working closely with cross-functional teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery within scope, budget, and timelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, ensuring successful delivery within scope, budget, and timeline constraints.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, including detailed tasks, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
• Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
• Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project team members, stakeholders, and external vendors.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement proactive solutions to mitigate risks and ensure project success.
• Conduct regular project status meetings, prepare and present progress reports to stakeholders, and address any concerns or impediments.
• Oversee project budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial goals are met.
• Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate verification techniques.
• Ensure compliance with project management methodologies, best practices, and organizational standards.
• Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior project managers and team members.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of project management processes and tools within the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly preferred.
• Proven experience (+8 years) as a Project Manager, with a focus on delivering complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and motivate cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships, expectations, and conflicts effectively.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Proficient in risk management, issue resolution, and change management processes.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and delegate tasks efficiently.

Nice to Have

• Experience with financial services and/or digital banking transformation projects is a strong asset.
