Introduction

Are you looking to work on innovative technological solutions within a safety-critical environment? The High-Tech Lab (HTL) of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee is seeking a Senior Product Designer to translate complex operational challenges into concrete, physical solutions. You will be involved in rapid prototyping, innovative product development, and experimental technologies that directly contribute to Defense operations.

Responsibilities

• Inventory technical needs from operational units and end-users.
• Translate needs into design concepts and functional requirement specifications.
• Design, test, and document innovative solutions.
• Set up experiments and proof-of-concepts around new technologies.
• Act as a technical sparring partner within the HTL team.
• Guide junior engineers and student workers.
• Contribute to the Defense-wide vision on rapid prototyping and decentralized production.
• Ensure transferability to serial production and operational use.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in similar roles.
• Experience within Defense, government, or the security domain.
• Preferably 2 years of experience with product certifications.
• Preferably 2 years of experience with product design for military applications.
• Experience within an innovative or high-tech environment.
• Strong technical foundation and ability to translate complex issues into practical solutions.
• Good communication skills and stakeholder management.
• Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).
