About the Position

Introduction

The Senior Network Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting the design, testing, implementation, and monitoring of Natera's enterprise Network infrastructure and operations. This is an individual contributor role responsible for leading network architecture, design, implementation, and ongoing operations, collaborating closely with other IT and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Provide technical input and evaluate new and emerging network technologies to address identified gaps.
Lead all aspects of network routing & switching design, architecture, and equipment lifecycle.
Design and implement network improvements to enhance performance, capacity, and scalability.
Lead day-to-day networking tasks to ensure network reliability, availability, and serviceability with minimal interruption.
Provide technical support, respond to work orders and tickets from users, and analyze and resolve reported network problems.
Install and configure networking hardware, such as LAN switches, Wi-Fi systems, and firewalls.
Develop and maintain network architecture drawings and documentation.
Support network compliance and risk management activities.
Review network monitoring tools and respond to alerts.
Participate in the team responding to network incidents.
Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and publish RCA reports as appropriate.
Perform network vulnerability assessments to identify weaknesses and countermeasures; provide timely assessment reports to key stakeholders.
Update network equipment to the latest firmware releases.
Be a member of the 24/7 network operational support team.
Handle Protected Health Information (PHI) regularly, both in paper and electronic form, and access various technologies to perform the job.
Complete training related to HIPAA/PHI privacy, general policies and procedures for compliance, and security training within the first 30 days of hire.
Maintain compliance with Natera's training requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

B.S. in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 8 years of related experience, including at least 5 years of experience in Network Design and Operations.
Experience with networks, firewalls, IDS/IPS, Linux OS/Windows OS administration.
Practical knowledge of fundamental networking controls, including L3 and L7 firewalls.
Strong knowledge of security principles across all areas of IT infrastructure.
Knowledge of Internet security and networking protocols.
Understanding of commonly used network protocols.
Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team and work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to quickly adapt as the external environment and organization evolve.
Ability to prioritize projects and deliverables.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.

Nice to Have

Current Industry certificates such as PNSE, CEH, Security+, CCNA/CCNP.
Specific experience with Juniper, Palo Alto Networks, Meraki, and Cisco networking products.
Experience with cloud security and cloud architecture.
Knowledge of major security vendors and their product capabilities.
Knowledge of operating system internals and hardening (Linux, OS X, Windows).
