Senior Manager, Software Engineering - AI Innovation

Introduction

As a Senior Manager on the Advanced Technology Activation Team (AT-AT), you will be instrumental in evolving software development at Choice Hotels. This role goes beyond traditional management, focusing on transitioning the organization towards an AI-augmented Development Lifecycle (AI-DLC). You will lead a high-performing team to create scalable, cloud-native services that will serve millions of travelers and franchisees.

Responsibilities

• Spearhead the evolution of software development towards an AI-augmented Development Lifecycle (AI-DLC).
• Guide a high-output team in building scalable, cloud-native services.
• Prioritize and implement 'Vibe Coding' and 'Spec-to-Code' methodologies.
• Remain hands-on, conducting live demonstrations of natural language and AI orchestration to accelerate concept-to-production workflows.
• Architect a new culture that values experimentation and curiosity, embedding AI across the entire lifecycle.
• Solve complex architectural challenges.
• Mentor the next generation of AI-native engineers.

Requirements

• Proven experience in software engineering leadership.
• Expertise in Generative AI and Cloud-Native Platforms.
• Strong proficiency in Java/JVM, Python, and TypeScript/Next.js.
• Experience with FastAPI and Streamlit for AI service deployment.
• Knowledge of System Architecture, CI/CD, and Agile Methodologies.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and Event-Driven Architecture.
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Strong stakeholder and people management skills.
• Bachelor's degree or postgraduate degree.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Agent-Based Architectures.
• Knowledge of Spring Boot, React.
• Understanding of PCI Compliance, SOX Compliance, Policy-as-Code, SLO, SLI.
• Background in Hospitality Technology or Enterprise Architecture.
• Experience with Distributed Data Design.
