Introduction

Shakepay is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Manager, Risk Operations to lead our efforts in establishing best-in-class risk management across our platform and products. This pivotal role involves leading a high-performing team, driving strategic risk initiatives, and architecting our risk infrastructure from the ground up, all while balancing robust fraud prevention with an excellent customer experience. Responsibilities

• Lead the team responsible for protecting Shakepay's platform and customers from fraud, abuse, and financial risk, ensuring scalable growth and a superior customer experience.
• Own workload management within fraud operations, including team capacity planning and roadmap development.
• Collaborate closely with the data science team to develop scalable detection systems, experimentation frameworks, and sophisticated risk decisioning strategies.
• Drive growth by implementing effective risk management strategies that skillfully balance customer friction with fraud detection and operational complexity.
• Partner with product teams to ensure fraud and risk controls are a core consideration in all new product launches.
• Propel the risk management technology strategy by working with engineering and design to create a detection framework that mitigates losses and protects our user base.
• Develop comprehensive fraud insight reporting to enhance operational efficiencies, optimize rules, and improve business communications.
• Design and implement risk management policies and procedures that streamline cross-functional operations.
• Scale fraud operations by breaking down silos across current and future financial services products, maintaining close collaboration with operations, customer support, and compliance teams.
• Champion improvements to the user experience related to fraud and security controls within the customer journey.
• Oversee the management of vendor relationships, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality of service.
• Foster accountability within your team, lead by example, and cultivate a strong performance-oriented culture.

Requirements

• 5+ years of full-time experience in risk management, preferably within a fintech company.
• Demonstrated experience with industry-leading fraud prevention tools and technology.
• Proven track record of building scalable, technology-enabled risk operations in a high-growth environment.
• Strong intuition for balancing automation, controls, and customer experience.
• Exceptional ability to build and maintain relationships with vendors and key stakeholders across all organizational levels.
• Capable leader with a passion for developing high-performance teams.
• Strong collaboration skills, particularly with technical teams (engineering, data, and product).
• Track record of cultivating a data-driven culture.
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

• Quantitative background in data, statistics, mathematics, or related disciplines.
• Experience with machine learning, especially within a risk management function.
• Previous experience in consumer banking.
