Senior Manager, Product Design

Introduction

Coinbase Developer Platform (CDP) aims to onboard a million developers to Web3 by providing easy-to-use and trusted developer tools. This team operates with a startup mindset within Coinbase, emphasizing speed, ownership, and developer satisfaction.

As a Senior Manager, Product Design, you will lead the design team for the Coinbase Developer Platform, shaping the vision and strategy for an industry-leading onchain developer experience. You'll work on products like wallets, paymasters, staking, stablecoins, and onchain data, serving a diverse customer base from financial institutions to native onchain startups.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of 3-5 Product Designers focused on developer experiences.
• Proactively identify and address blockers, opportunities, and improvements within the team's product area.
• Be actively involved in all decision-making phases for your product area, including planning, strategy, tactics, QA, analysis, and shipping.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to drive and define product vision and strategy.
• Direct the allocation of design resources for current and upcoming quarters.
• Mentor and support the growth of other designers.
• Design and optimize working processes for your team.
• Organize and document multiple projects and team workflows in writing.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional experience leading a team of designers.
• Proven experience designing for developers (e.g., developer tools).
• Experience recruiting and managing designers who focus on developer audiences.
• Strong mentorship and technical skills.
• Experience setting creative direction for consumer-facing web and mobile products.
• Excellence in UX thinking, visual design, and written communication.
• Experience working collaboratively with designers, engineers, user researchers, and product teams.
• Fluency in Figma and various prototyping tools.
• Experience driving user research studies.
• Low ego, collaborative, and open-minded.
• A passion for transforming complexity into simplicity and bringing order from uncertainty.
• Passion for crypto.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with the Web3 ecosystem.
• Technical degree (Computer Science or Computer Engineering).
• Previous programming experience.
