Responsibilities

As a Formal Verification Engineer, you will be instrumental in verifying the micro-architecture of NVIDIA’s industry-leading GPUs using advanced formal verification tools and methodologies. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Identifying critical behaviors for verification and crafting clear test plans for complex designs.
• Implementing test plans using the latest formal techniques, including the development of environment assumptions, assertions, and cover properties.
• Developing abstraction models to address complexity challenges and achieve full proofs or sufficiently bounded proofs.
• Optimizing formal tools for peak performance.
• Debugging RTL to pinpoint the root causes of failure scenarios.
• Contributing to the development of flows and scripts to enhance team efficiency.
• Clearly articulating formal verification coverage to internal partners.
• Collaborating with architects, designers, and pre- and post-silicon verification teams to ensure correctness.
• Efficiently managing the formal verification effort throughout the entire project lifecycle, delivering high-quality results on schedule.

Requirements

• BS/MS/PhD or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics with 6+ years of experience.
• Strong understanding of GPU/CPU architectures and engineering workflows.
• Proficiency with Verilog / System Verilog HDLs and the ability to quickly comprehend complex RTL.
• Demonstrated experience with formal verification tools and methodologies.
• Ability to implement effective abstraction techniques for verification.
• Strong analytical skills to solve complex problems.
• Excellent command of scripting languages such as TCL, Perl, and/or Python.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a distributed team environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with specific formal verification tools (e.g., Cadence JasperGold, Synopsys VC Formal, Mentor Graphics Questa Formal).
• Familiarity with functional verification methodologies (e.g., UVM).

• Competitive salary: Level 4 engineers can expect a salary range of $168,000 to $264,500 USD, while Level 5 engineers are in the range of $196,000 to $310,500 USD.
