About the Position

Introduction

Are you passionate about cutting-edge blockchain technology and creating equitable access to the global financial system? The Stellar Development Foundation (SDF) is seeking a Senior Developer Advocate to join our team. With the recent launch of smart contracts on Stellar, we are expanding our team to drive developer participation and foster an ecosystem of tools, protocols, dapps, and educational resources.

As a Senior Developer Advocate, you will be instrumental in designing and executing strategies for events and hackathons, creating developer activations, and producing resources to attract, motivate, and educate early adopters on the capabilities of Stellar's native smart contracts.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute engaging strategies for in-person activations to attract and inspire developers to build on Stellar.
Deliver keynotes, lead workshops, provide hands-on mentorship, and represent SDF at global conferences, hackathons, and builder events.
Create tutorials, videos, code samples, documentation, and interactive content, leveraging the potential of Stellar and AI, to educate developers and empower community members and global ambassadors.
Review technical documentation, pull requests, and ecosystem contributions with a sharp editorial and engineering eye, ensuring high standards and best practices.
Actively engage with builders from other ecosystems, including those interested in blockchain and AI, to grow the Stellar developer community.
Drive participation in developer-facing programs such as the Stellar Ambassador Program, the Stellar Community Fund, and other ecosystem initiatives.

Requirements

5+ years of experience as a developer advocate in Web3 with a strong engineering background.
Demonstrated experience using AI to enhance development workflow and a passion for helping others unlock their building potential with AI.
Proven ability in writing technical documentation, developer guides, or educational content, with the skill to prioritize and resolve issues swiftly.
Familiarity with smart contract platforms (Wasm- or EVM-based) and the ability to understand subtle platform differences, especially compared to Stellar.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills, coupled with an eagerness to share knowledge in both one-on-one and one-to-many interactions.
A portfolio showcasing your best Web3 DevRel work or an active social media presence demonstrating industry leadership.
A strong playbook of Web3 DevRel ideas for the Stellar ecosystem, with the motivation and ownership to execute key strategies rapidly.
A passion for building, tinkering, and helping others bring ideas to life through code, AI tools, or creative experimentation.
An explorer mindset: curious, problem-solving oriented, and dedicated to helping others.
A love for travel and flexibility to attend global events frequently.

Nice to Have

Experience writing and deploying smart contracts, ideally across multiple chains, including Stellar.
Proficiency in building full-stack applications using JavaScript and React.
Experience with Rust or a strong desire to deepen Rust knowledge.
Prior involvement in or contributions to open-source blockchain ecosystems and familiarity with Docusaurus (or a willingness to learn quickly).
Understanding of blockchain analytics and developer onboarding funnels.
A history of engagement with the Stellar community.

Competitive base salary: $125,000 - $175,000/year, depending on experience and location.
