About the Position

Introduction

Sopra Steria is seeking a passionate and skilled Senior Data Scientist / ML Engineer to join their team in Groningen, Netherlands. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in programming languages, cloud platforms, and data analysis to extract valuable insights from large datasets and communicate them to stakeholders. You will also focus on designing and optimizing data infrastructure, automating processes, and developing microservices to make data lakes more accessible and useful.

Responsibilities

Extract valuable insights from large datasets using programming languages like Python and R and visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBI.
Communicate insights effectively to stakeholders to drive decision-making.
Utilize expertise in Hadoop & Spark and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) for predictive modeling, hypothesis testing, and exploratory data analysis.
Convert raw data into actionable insights and scalable solutions.
Design and optimize data infrastructure.
Automate data processes to ensure seamless data delivery.
Develop microservices to enhance the accessibility and utility of data lakes.
Continuously seek innovative ways to improve data scalability and usability.
Develop and implement data solutions from concept to delivery, contributing to clients' strategic goals.

Requirements

HBO, WO, or PhD education level.
7+ years of experience in Data Science or ML Engineering.
Proficiency in Python and SQL.
Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
Familiarity with Git and Docker.
Specialization in areas like Tabular ML, Computer Vision, NLP, or Deep Learning.
Experience in coaching and project management.
Knowledge of Responsible AI principles.
Experience with MLOps/DevOps practices.
Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).

Nice to Have

Experience with Business Intelligence (BI).
Proficiency in R.
Familiarity with Databricks.
Knowledge of mathematical optimization.
Experience with big data/distributed computing.
Understanding of ETL/ELT processes.
Strong presentation skills.
