About the Position
Introduction
Roku is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join its Core Analytics team, supporting the Roku TV division. This role involves leveraging big data to generate insights that drive key business decisions and partnering with executive business leaders to provide actionable recommendations. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in data retrieval, manipulation, analysis, and visualization, alongside excellent communication and business acumen.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to monitor key metrics for device hardware and software health.
- Analyze structured and unstructured data, communicating insights to help stakeholders solve business problems, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Develop data visualizations illustrating complex platform phenomena using Looker, Tableau, and other visualization platforms.
- Develop necessary data pipelines to power automation, validation, and reporting.
- Use creativity to find proxies where verbatim data or measurement is unavailable.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align data science initiatives with organizational goals and strategy.
- Design and execute A/B tests to enhance the streaming experience for customers.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in data science, including the use of artificial intelligence, to drive innovation.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience in a data analytics, data science, or business intelligence role. Product analytics experience is preferred.
- Excellent command of SQL and experience working with Big Data.
- Experience coding in Python or R.
- Hands-on experience with data visualization platforms like Tableau, Looker, or similar.
- Statistics knowledge, including A/B experimentation and statistical inference.
- Innate drive to act in resolving issues and thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
- Self-driven, highly motivated, and independent-minded individual with a natural curiosity for understanding data and business.
- Strong communication skills, capable of composing clear, concise, and appropriate materials and information for the intended audience.
- Excellent investigative skills with a passion for finding the root cause of an issue.
- Ability to work independently and across multiple time zones.
- Ownership mindset, taking responsibility for the end-to-end lifecycle of a product from ideation to post-launch performance tracking.
- Academic background in mathematics, statistics, physics, data science, computer science, or economics.
