Senior Back-end Software Engineer

Introduction

Our mission at Mollie is to accelerate commerce growth by simplifying payments. We offer an easy-to-use payments platform that helps businesses of all sizes accept payments and manage their financial operations seamlessly. We're currently scaling our platforms at a rapid pace and are looking for a Senior Back-end Software Engineer to join one of our cross-functional teams. You will be responsible for building new features, improving existing ones, and ensuring our platform is reliable, scalable, and secure.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy new features and services within our payment platform.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code in Python or Kotlin.
• Work with modern frameworks and tools, such as Django, Spring Boot, Celery, and Kafka.
• Participate in the entire software development life cycle, from conception to deployment and operation.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Contribute to the team's on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in back-end software development.
• Proven track record of building and maintaining scalable, high-performance, and reliable systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
• Experience with relational databases and SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL).
• Experience with message brokers (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Proactive and a strong team player, with excellent communication skills.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Nice to Have

• Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with payment industry standards and regulations (e.g., PCI DSS).
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Go or Java.
