Senior Back-end Engineer - Payments Platform (PHP)

Introduction

Mollie is seeking a Senior Back-end Engineer to join their Payments Platform team. This role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining scalable and reliable services for their payment processing platform, enabling businesses to simplify their payment methods. You'll contribute to the full lifecycle of payment methods, from ideation to operation, working with modern technologies like Golang, PHP, Kubernetes, AWS, and Kafka.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, scalable, and reliable services.
• Participate in the entire application lifecycle, focusing on coding, debugging, and testing.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code.
• Perform code reviews across the team to ensure code quality and share knowledge.
• Collaborate with other teams to integrate new features and services.
• Continuously improve and optimize services for maximum performance, security, and scalability.
• Help define the technical direction and architecture for Mollie.
• Contribute to Mollie’s engineering culture by suggesting ideas, giving feedback, and coaching other engineers.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Comfortable working with PHP.
• Experience working with an event-driven architecture.
• Experience with SQL (preferably MySQL) and NoSQL solutions.
• Experience in working with scalable and highly-available systems, including deployment and monitoring of services.
• Experience with microservice architecture.
• Ability to debug large systems.
• Good communication skills, comfortable in technically leading the team and coaching other engineers.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Golang.
• Experience with GraphQL and Protobuf.
• Prior experience with payments or financial services.
• Experience with Kafka and Kubernetes.
• Experience working with high load and large datasets.
