Senior Back-End Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Back-End Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the development of our innovative payment solutions. You'll be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure backend systems that power our global operations.

What you'll do:

Architect, design, and implement high-performance, scalable, and secure backend services and APIs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, front-end engineers, and other stakeholders, to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Develop and maintain efficient and reliable data storage solutions, ensuring data integrity and accessibility. Optimise applications for maximum speed and scalability. Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code, following best practices and coding standards. Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior engineers. Troubleshoot and debug production issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption. Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, continuously seeking ways to improve our tech stack and development processes. Participate in the entire software development life cycle, from conception to deployment and maintenance. Drive technical discussions and decisions within the team.

What you'll need:

5+ years of experience in backend development. Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, Go). Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems. Expertise in designing and interacting with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis). Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, asynchronous programming, and message queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ). Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Experience with unit and integration testing frameworks. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. A passion for delivering high-quality, performant, and reliable software.

Bonus Points:

Experience with blockchain or distributed ledger technologies, especially as applied to payments. Familiarity with event-driven architectures. Contributions to open-source projects. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
