We are seeking a talented Senior Back-end Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge solutions at Mollie. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining robust and scalable back-end systems that power our financial services platform. You will work within a cross-functional team, collaborating closely with product managers, front-end engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software that meets the needs of our growing customer base.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and secure back-end services using technologies like PHP, Python, Java, or Go.
Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features and enhancements.
Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers.
Troubleshoot and debug production issues, ensuring timely resolution.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and tools.
Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and growth.

Requirements

Proven experience (5+ years) as a Back-end Engineer, with a strong focus on building scalable and resilient systems.
Expertise in at least one back-end language such as PHP, Python, Java, or Go.
Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and distributed systems.
Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Nice to Have

Experience with event-driven architecture and message queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
Knowledge of financial technologies (FinTech) or payment systems.
Familiarity with blockchain technologies or cryptocurrencies.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
Contributions to open-source projects.
