What you'll do As a Senior Back-end Engineer, you’ll join one of our cross-functional teams in Amsterdam or Lisbon and contribute to building highly available, low-latency, and event-driven payment products. You’ll be adding features to our core payments platform that processes transactions and helps companies scale. You’ll also get the chance to use new technologies in the evolving payment landscape and contribute to the system architecture by bringing new ideas to the table.

You’ll contribute to the full development lifecycle of a feature — from discovery, ideation, development, testing, delivery, and post-release support You’ll collaborate with engineers, product teams, and other stakeholders across the company to iterate on our product You’ll participate in pair programming, code reviews, and provide constructive feedback to your peers You’ll implement solutions that are secure, scalable, and maintainable, adhering to the best engineering practices and principles, like balancing between speed and quality You’ll help implement solutions that solve our customer’s needs and improve the overall payments experience

What you'll come with

To be a successful Senior Back-end Engineer at Mollie, we’d love to see:

5+ years of software development experience Strong knowledge of software design patterns and architectural principles Experience with building and maintaining distributed systems Experience with at least one of our core programming languages (PHP or Go), but we are open to working with other languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, C#, Kotlin, C++, etc. Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.) Experience with high-scale, low-latency systems Experience with event-driven architecture and asynchronous messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.) Understanding of domain-driven design and microservices architecture Good understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure Fluency in English, both written and verbal

Bonus Points:

Experience working in the FinTech industry Experience with Kubernetes and Docker Experience building APIs for external users

When hiring for roles at Mollie, we work with both fixed and adjustable salary bands. Fixed for roles below senior level and adjustable for more senior/specialist roles. We take into account several factors, including the candidate’s skills and their experience against the requirements of the role, and benchmark current market data. As an indication, the annual gross salary for this role can range from EUR 65.000,00 to EUR 100.000,00.
