Senior AI Product Engineer

Introduction

Ro is seeking a Senior AI Product Engineer to join a new team focused on building and shipping LLM-powered products across patient experience, clinical operations, and internal tooling. This hybrid role combines product management and engineering, offering the opportunity to own the complete lifecycle of AI products, from problem identification to building, shipping, and measuring solutions.

Responsibilities

• Embed directly with clinical operations, pharmacy, and care teams to understand manual workflows and redesign them using LLMs and agentic patterns.
• Drive build-vs-buy strategy for AI tooling, deciding when to build custom orchestration versus integrating third-party solutions.
• Develop prompts, evaluation suites, and Python code to integrate AI systems with Ro's products and internal operations.
• Create golden datasets, define evaluation rubrics, and conduct experiments to continuously improve product quality and reliability.
• Define success metrics, measure the impact of AI products, and use data to inform future investments.
• Influence the prioritization, sequencing, and technical direction of the AI team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in product management, software engineering, applied AI, technical program management, or a combination of these fields.
• Proficiency in Python and API interaction; capable of hands-on implementation without necessarily architecting complex backends.
• Demonstrated experience shipping at least one AI-powered feature, including the ability to discuss its metrics and justification in detail.
• Strong product judgment and comfort operating with ambiguity, identifying opportunities through direct observation.
• Enthusiasm for leveraging AI tools to develop software.
• A collaborative approach, enjoying direct engagement with users and operators, rapidly testing ideas, and iterating based on real-world feedback.
