Introduction

Backbase is establishing a new Business Development Center in Krakow, Poland, which serves as a vital hub for research and development. This center brings together the best traits of our global and diverse culture, focusing on cutting-edge financial technology innovation. As an R&D Engineering Team Lead, you will play a crucial role in leading a talented team, designing and developing high-quality software solutions that ensure Backbase products remain market leaders globally.

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Guide your team in architectural decisions, design patterns, and best practices. Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of our software solutions.
• Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 4-8 software engineers. Foster a culture of excellence, continuous learning, and innovation.
• Software Development: Actively participate in the design, development, and code reviews of complex software modules. Ensure adherence to coding standards and project timelines.
• Product Collaboration: Work closely with Product Owners and other stakeholders to understand requirements, define technical specifications, and deliver features that align with business goals.
• Quality Assurance: Implement and promote robust testing practices, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, to maintain high code quality.
• Innovation: Research and evaluate new technologies, tools, and methodologies to continuously improve our development processes and product offerings.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Provide expert support for escalated issues, analyzing and resolving complex technical problems efficiently.

Requirements

• Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 8+ years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team of engineers, with a strong emphasis on mentorship and career development.
• Technical Proficiency: Excellent knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Frontend Skills: Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js) and frontend development best practices.
• Database Knowledge: Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• DevOps: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and other DevOps tools.
• Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of delivering innovative solutions.
• Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Agile: Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
