About the Position

Introduction

Responsibilities

Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot complex network and security incidents.
Proactively identify disruptions and technical risks.
Perform in-depth root cause analyses and implement structural improvements.
Engineer and optimize Fortinet environments.
Work with FortiGate, FortiManager, and FortiAnalyzer.
Resolve routing and switching issues, including BGP and OSPF.
Work with SD-WAN, IPSec VPN, SSL VPN, VLANs, and network segmentation.
Execute changes and support implementations.
Automate and standardize network and security processes using tools like Ansible and Git.
Contribute to infrastructure-as-code and further professionalization of the environment.
Collaborate with consultants, solution architects, and other engineers on technical projects.

Requirements

Minimum of two years of relevant work experience in networking and security.
Demonstrable technical proficiency at a minimum of CCNA level.
Experience with Fortinet and FortiGate.
Knowledge of routing and switching, including BGP and OSPF.
Experience with complex network and security troubleshooting.
Technically strong, analytical, and able to independently tackle complex issues.
Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).

About Company

You will be working for a technically driven IT organization that supports clients in designing, implementing, and managing complex network and security environments. The organization serves a variety of enterprise clients, including those in healthcare, government, and other business-critical sectors.

As a Fortinet Network Engineer, you will contribute to complex enterprise network and security environments where availability and security are paramount. You will be part of a technically specialized team, combining NOC duties with participation in projects.

Within the specialized Fortinet team, you will collaborate with approximately eight engineers. The team focuses on monitoring, troubleshooting, and further developing network and security environments. In addition to operational tasks, there is ample room to participate in projects and structural improvements.

You will work closely with consultants, client managers, and solution architects. While a solution architect handles high-level architecture, as an engineer, you contribute to the technical realization, management, and further development of the environment.

The organization values collaboration and knowledge sharing. Although there is significant flexibility regarding working from home, the team enjoys working together regularly at the Rotterdam location.
