About the Position

Introduction

Anchorage Digital is seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious Member of Compliance, Financial Crimes Compliance Data Analytics. This role is a vital part of the Compliance team, supporting the design, implementation, and optimization of compliance programs across all applicable Anchorage Digital legal entities. You will collaborate closely with various compliance functions, especially Financial Crimes Compliance, to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Your expertise will be crucial in transforming raw data into actionable insights, driving process improvements, and leveraging technology to strengthen our overall compliance posture through analytics, automation, and strategic use of AI tools.

This position is ideal for a proactive technologist who thrives on solving complex problems in a dynamic regulatory environment, gaining deep exposure to diverse compliance domains.

Responsibilities

Technical Data Analysis: Become an expert in compliance-related data tables and models, understanding their nuances, underlying codes, and limitations to conduct reliable and accurate data analysis independently.
Process Automation: Work with stakeholders to automate key compliance processes and workflows (e.g., KYC, sanctions screening, suspicious activity identification and reporting) using internal tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
AI Integration: Experiment with and deploy AI solutions, staying current with the latest AI developments to enhance efficiency using internal AI tools or creative methods.
Model Development: Support the development and enhancement of BSA/AML models, including transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, customer risk rating, blockchain analytics, and other relevant tools.
Process Improvement: Contribute to best practices for the FCC Analytics team, including code review, testing frameworks, project management, and documentation.
Ad-hoc Analysis: Conduct ad hoc analyses and respond to time-sensitive data requests from auditors, regulators, or other Compliance teams with accuracy and speed.
Organizational Understanding: Develop a deep understanding of Anchorage Digital's business model (custody, staking, stablecoins, trading) and how data flows through these domains and compliance models.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, etc.) to implement and improve tools and processes within the broader Compliance department.
Prioritization & Communication: Manage competing priorities across strategic projects and urgent ad-hoc requests, clarify ambiguous requests, and present findings and data insights effectively with appropriate context and visuals.

Requirements

Experience: 2–3 years of experience in a data analytics or data science role with a strong understanding of blockchain, cryptocurrency, and the financial services industry.
Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously, manage multiple competing priorities. Proficient in data manipulation and analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Looker, advanced Excel/Google Sheets).
Advanced SQL Skills: Expertise in CTEs, window functions, complex joins, and query optimization; ability to write production-quality queries for diverse use cases.
Automation & AI Aptitude: Experience with or a strong interest in automation principles, leveraging existing AI tools, and exploring new AI tools (like AI Agents) to enhance productivity.
Technologist Mindset: Strong understanding of how systems, data flows, and technologies interact, with an eagerness to learn and apply new technologies.
Soft Skills: Well-organized, strong analytical background, ability to effectively manage competing priorities, and adapt to rapid change in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

Prior experience in the financial service industry, crypto industry, startup, or a fast-paced, evolving environment.
General understanding of regulatory compliance, financial crimes, and risk management.
Experience with data transformation tools (e.g., dbt) or similar; familiarity with version control (Git) and software engineering best practices for analytics.
Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages for data analysis, automation, or data pipeline work.
Excellent communication skills with experience presenting technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate results under tight deadlines, especially for compliance or audit-related requests.
Detail-oriented and quality-focused with a commitment to data accuracy, testing, and documentation.
