About the Position

Introduction

Are you a Java developer looking to expand your expertise and contribute to impactful projects for large organizations and semi-governments? Sopra Steria's JTech practice is seeking a Medior Java Developer to join their team in Nieuwegein, Netherlands. You'll work on end-to-end technology and software solutions, tackling challenges from modernizing legacy applications to implementing cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities

As a Medior Java Developer, you will:

Modernize outdated Java applications to the latest LTS versions.
Migrate on-premise OTAP environments (RHEL servers) to cloud platforms like Azure (AKS).
Evaluate and implement container orchestration technologies like OpenShift and Kubernetes (using Helm, Dockerfile, Podman).
Transform CI/CD pipelines from Jenkins to Azure Pipelines.
Select and implement new frameworks such as Spring or Quarkus.
Improve the effectiveness of unit and integration tests.
Contribute to software architecture and technical design.
Work collaboratively in a team environment, sharing knowledge and ideas.
Maintain a positive and solution-oriented mindset.
Transfer knowledge and experience to colleagues.

Requirements

Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience as a Java developer.
Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring or Quarkus.
Proficiency in testing methodologies (unit, integration, acceptance tests) and their application.
Strong knowledge and practical experience with cloud technologies like AWS, Azure, including OpenShift.
Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment.
Experience working in accordance with DevOps principles.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a relevant equivalent qualification.
Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).
