Introduction

Are you looking to contribute to a safer digital government and help organizations handle sensitive information with care? We are seeking an Information Security Advisor for a large government executive organization in The Hague. In this role, you will translate policy into concrete actions and support colleagues in managing cyber and privacy risks.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of information.
• Assist departments, teams, and colleagues in interpreting and applying organization-wide Information Security (IB) policy.
• Ensure compliance with applicable frameworks such as BIO 2.0, AVG (GDPR), and internal guidelines.
• Support risk identification, perform Quick Scans, and advise on how to structurally reduce or prevent risks.
• Actively contribute to raising awareness within the organization through training and workshops.
• Provide support on data security questions and serve as a point of contact for IB issues.
• Guide departments through data breaches and other incidents, ensuring meticulous process adherence and documentation.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues in the Information Security & Privacy department and other teams.
• Participate in relevant meetings to ensure alignment between policy and implementation.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years demonstrable experience in an IB Advisor role.
• Minimum of 2 years demonstrable work experience in conducting/supervising Quick Scans and Risk Analyses.
• Completed HBO+ education (higher professional education or university bachelor's degree).
• Demonstrable work experience within the government is a plus.
• Courses in data and data-driven work (AI) and cybersecurity / basic digital resilience training are a plus.
• Experience with awareness campaigns is a plus.
• Experience with IB standards frameworks is a plus.
• Experience and/or education in data, IT, and Risk is a plus.
• Good and broad knowledge of current laws and regulations is a plus.
• Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).

Benefits

• Full-time work week of 36 hours.

• Holiday allowance: 8.33% of gross annual salary.

• Travel allowance: €0.23/kilometer (maximum €300 per month).
