Introduction

Sopra Steria is seeking a passionate Medior Data Scientist / ML Engineer to join their team in Groningen, Netherlands. You will be instrumental in extracting valuable insights from large datasets, communicating these to stakeholders, and developing scalable data solutions that support strategic client goals.

Responsibilities

As a Data Scientist, you will:

• Extract valuable insights from large datasets using programming languages like Python and R, and visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBI.
• Communicate insights effectively to stakeholders.
• Apply expertise in Hadoop & Spark and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) to build predictive models, conduct hypothesis tests, and perform exploratory data analysis.

As a Data Engineer, you will:

• Transform raw data into usable insights and scalable solutions.
• Focus on the design and optimization of data infrastructure.
• Automate processes to ensure seamless data delivery.
• Develop microservices to make data lakes more accessible and useful.
• Continuously seek innovative ways to improve data scalability and usability.
• Develop and implement end-to-end data solutions from concept to implementation, ensuring strong results and alignment with client strategic goals.

Requirements

• HBO, WO, or PhD degree.
• 3-4 years of experience.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), Git, and Docker.
• Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).

Nice to Have

• Experience with BI, R, Databricks.
• Knowledge of mathematical optimization.
• Specialization (e.g., Tabular ML, Computer Vision, NLP, Deep Learning).
• Experience with MLOps/DevOps.
• Knowledge of Responsible AI.
• Experience with big data/distributed computing.
• Experience with ETL/ELT.
• Strong presentation skills.
