In Groningen, you'll work within the Data practice of Sopra Steria North, where data scientists and engineers collaborate to build solutions for clients in both public and private sectors, at the intersection of AI, analytics, and strategic advice. You'll also work alongside colleagues from teams such as Strategy & Business Design, Product Management, Java, Microsoft, frontend, and agile testing, bridging technology and organization. Introduction

As a Machine Learning Engineer at Sopra Steria in Groningen, you won't just work with data; you'll transform it into real value. Your understanding goes beyond building models; you ensure they function and remain operational in practice. You will be involved in impactful projects from hypothesis to production, developing, testing, and implementing ML solutions that are genuinely utilized.

Responsibilities

• Make raw data usable with smart models, pipelines, and visualizations.
• Translate hypotheses into concrete experiments.
• Work with modern ML tools and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Ensure that models are not left on the shelf but are truly deployed into production.
• Collaborate with clients and development teams to create scalable, maintainable, and impactful solutions.

Requirements

• A Master's degree or comparable experience in data science, machine learning, or AI.
• Experience with Python and SQL.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience with building and deploying models into production.
• Affinity with topics such as explainable AI, MLOps, anomaly detection, or NLP.
• Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).
