About the Position

Introduction

Are you looking to keep a critical Linux environment stable and scalable, while 70+ engineers build upon it? Do you want to know what this environment looks like and what your role will be? Then read on. As a Linux System Engineer, you will be responsible for a stable, robust, secure, and scalable Linux environment. You will work with a team of specialists on the management, optimization, and further development of Linux infrastructures, with a focus on automation (Ansible) and minimizing downtime. You will contribute to further professionalizing management tools and processes, creating an environment where all (70+) engineers can work optimally. You will report to the Head of Operations and collaborate closely with Development, Security, and Product teams. The team you will join consists of 5 FTE (Operations Engineers) and the Head of Operations. The organization has approximately 200 employees.

Responsibilities

Manage, optimize, and develop the Linux environment.
Ensure high availability, security, and performance.
Automate tasks using Ansible and scripting (Bash, Python).
Monitor systems and proactively intervene in case of disruptions.
Document procedures and manuals.
Participate in on-call duties.

Requirements

Higher professional education (HBO) level of thinking and working.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Linux System Engineer or similar.
Extensive knowledge and experience with Linux (Red Hat, Debian).
Extensive experience with automation (Ansible) and scripting (Bash, Python).
Proactive, analytical, and strong communication skills.
Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).

Nice to Have

Knowledge of virtualization (VMware) and container technology (Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana).
