Lead Software Engineer (AI, Data & Integration)

Introduction

This is an exclusive opportunity to technically shape a complete engineering organization. We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer who doesn't choose between building and leading. You will remain hands-on in software development for about half of your time, while simultaneously determining the technical direction of the API, Data, and AI platform. You will contribute to the growth of the engineering team and play a key role in the organization's AI transformation.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement scalable and robust solutions for the API, Data, and AI platform.
• Lead the technical strategy and roadmap for the platform, ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Drive the adoption of best practices in software development, data engineering, and AI/ML.
• Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Collaborate with product owners, stakeholders, and other engineering teams to define requirements and deliver solutions.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, particularly in AI and data.
• Actively participate in code reviews and contribute to hands-on development.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Lead Software Engineer or Architect with a strong focus on AI, Data, and API platforms.
• Extensive hands-on experience in software development, preferably with modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, Scala).
• Deep understanding of data architectures, data pipelines, and data processing technologies.
• Experience with AI/Machine Learning concepts, frameworks, and deployment.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and distributed systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable plans.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).
