Lead Front-end Developer

With their product, they improve education in the Netherlands by collecting and analyzing data, deriving the right insights, and providing feedback to both students and teachers. This enables students to learn at their own pace and level, and teachers can focus on the individual. Their products are used in schools throughout the Netherlands. It is an organization with an informal atmosphere and an open culture, employing about 50 people, 10 of whom are in the IT team. They work agile in two-week sprints.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Front-end team and define the Front-end architecture.
• Spend significant time coding while also focusing on team management and architectural decisions.
• Coach, guide, and develop a team of 5 Front-end Developers.
• Collaborate closely with the Product Owner and UX/UI Designer to assess technical feasibility of user stories and designs, and determine the best implementation strategy.
• Act as the technical conscience of the team, defining the vision for the Front-end.
• Contribute to setting up the design system and ensuring quality standards are met.
• Work on a complex application built with React, TypeScript, GraphQL, Storybook, and Cypress, used daily by millions of students and teachers.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Front-end Developer.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Lead or Senior Front-end Developer.
• Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript.
• Familiarity with setting up a design system.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Enthusiasm for coaching and developing team members.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proactive and a true team player.
• Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).

Nice to Have

• Experience with GraphQL.
