About the Position
Introduction
Mollie is on a mission to simplify complex financial services to help businesses grow. They process over €20 billion in transactions annually for over 130,000 merchants across Europe, with plans for further expansion.
As a Lead Credit Risk, you will manage a small team of Credit Risk Analysts and oversee the daily operations of the Credit Risk pillar. Your role is crucial in developing and implementing strategies to manage credit risk, ensuring operational efficiency, and driving the automation of internal Credit Risk tools.
Responsibilities
- Set up, monitor, and adapt strategies for managing credit risk (e.g., payout blocking, credit lines).
- Ensure all daily tasks within the credit risk operations framework are completed, such as credit limit setting, block/unblock requests.
- Actively manage a portfolio of merchants by performing qualitative credit risk reviews.
- Identify and review high-risk payment flows based on transaction monitoring alerts.
- Respond to merchant and internal stakeholder queries.
- Proactively identify and implement improvements to existing processes and tooling.
- Collaborate closely with other teams (Compliance, Product, Merchant Support, Legal) to align on risk management policies.
- Drive the development and automation of internal Credit Risk tooling.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in credit risk within the payments industry or banking sector.
- Previous experience in a managerial/supervisory role.
- Deep understanding of transaction monitoring, payment processing, fraud prevention techniques, and financial regulations.
- Proven experience with setting up and implementing credit risk strategies (e.g., collateral strategy, exposure analysis, debt collection).
- Ability to manage competing priorities while focusing on mitigating losses and enabling business objectives.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data and make sound decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders across all levels.
- Previous experience with SQL, Power BI, and/or similar tools for analyzing large data sets.
