Introduction

Sopra Steria is seeking an experienced Java DevOps Engineer to join their Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) practice. This role focuses on developing and maintaining software applications using a DevOps approach for large organizations and (semi-)governmental bodies in the Netherlands. If you are a Medior with the ambition to grow into a Senior role, you are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

As a Java DevOps Engineer, your tasks will include:

• Contributing to application development as part of a team:
  • Implementing new product features.
  • Adapting existing Java application technology stacks for Kubernetes clusters, potentially in Azure Cloud.
  • Automating deployments to enable self-service by the team.
  • Monitoring key metrics with dashboards and alerting systems to proactively identify issues.
• Resolving incidents, performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and conducting post-mortems to improve processes and application software.
• Motivating teams to achieve higher maturity levels and advance their DevOps practices.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of work experience as a Java Software Developer.
• Demonstrable experience as an Operational Engineer.
• Experience working according to DevOps/SRE principles, including on-call duties and willingness to participate.
• Knowledge and experience with software design for Cloud-native solutions (Cloud infrastructure is a plus).
• CKAD certified (or similar) or willingness to obtain certification.
• Experience with implementing CI/CD Pipelines and applying Shift-Left principles.
• Experience using Observability platforms.
• Intrinsic motivation for continuous learning and obtaining certifications.
• Knowledge and/or experience with applying AI in your field is a plus.
• Experience and enjoyment working in a team setting (Scrum and Kanban).
• Positive mindset and solution-oriented attitude.
• Ability to enthusiastically share knowledge and experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a relevant equivalent education.
• Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).
• This position requires a screening through VOG (Certificate of Conduct).

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud infrastructure (e.g., Azure Cloud).
• CKAD certification.
• Knowledge of AI applications.
