IT Architect

Our client is an informal, no-nonsense organization located in West-Brabant. They value a hands-on approach where you will interact directly with systems and people, seeing the tangible results of your work. The organization seeks your expertise for technical dilemmas and expects you to take the lead in incidents. You will define the IT infrastructure for the coming years and be part of its construction. Current projects include replacing the entire network environment, optimizing existing infrastructure, moving towards the cloud, achieving NIS2 compliance, and automating the factory with new production lines.

Introduction

Our client is looking for an IT Architect to design and oversee the implementation of a new network, a factory automation project, and a redesigned IT landscape. This is an opportunity to directly shape the future IT infrastructure of a growing organization.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new cloud solutions, hardware, and network technology, ensuring long-term viability and compatibility with existing systems.
• Make critical decisions on cybersecurity, backup policies, and data sovereignty, including data residency requirements.
• Implement NIS2 compliance, developing a roadmap, governance structure, and defining roles.
• Collaborate with operational departments for implementation and provide structural guidance.
• Engage with factory personnel to understand their challenges and incorporate their feedback into process changes.
• Advise on replacement and implementation projects, maintaining involvement until successful operation.
• Work closely with the Application Architect, Process Manager, IT management department, and external vendors.

Requirements

There are two paths to this role:

• You are an experienced IT or Infrastructure Architect with a minimum of 3 years in that role.
• Alternatively, you are a technically strong engineer or administrator who already handles significant architectural tasks in your current position and wishes to make a definitive move into architecture.

Furthermore:

• A completed HBO (higher professional education) degree and a strong foundation in network, cloud (Azure), hardware, and security.
• You are visible and present, engaging directly with people and systems rather than working remotely behind a screen. Your workplace is West-Brabant. Three days a week on location is negotiable; fully remote is not.
• People trust your judgment because of your expertise, not just your title.
• You listen first and then respond, rather than dictating solutions.
• Dutch or English language skills. If you are English-speaking and willing to learn Dutch, that is a strong advantage.
• Experience in a production environment is a plus, but not a requirement. Analytical thinking is more important; the rest can be learned on the job.
• Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).
