Introduction

We are looking for an experienced HPC Systems Engineer for a knowledge-intensive organization. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the management and optimization of a complex High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment. You will work directly within operations, actively contributing to a stable, scalable, and efficient computing infrastructure. The focus is on performance, reliability, and optimal user support.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain HPC systems within the organization.
• Ensure the continuity and stability of the HPC infrastructure.
• Perform daily management and optimization of Linux and cluster environments.
• Support computationally intensive workloads such as simulations and numerical calculations.
• Analyze performance, job behavior, and usage patterns.
• Identify improvement opportunities based on measurements and user feedback.
• Advise on optimizations in compute, storage, and networking.
• Install, configure, and implement improvements within the cluster environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues and users to ensure the HPC environment functions optimally.

Requirements

• Demonstrable experience managing HPC clusters.
• In-depth knowledge of cluster software such as Bright, TrinityX, Omnia, or similar.
• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and/or Rocky Linux.
• RHCSA certification or higher.
• Experience with performance analysis and optimization.
• Strong analytical skills and a structured approach to work.
• Team-oriented, with a proactive and service-minded attitude.
• Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).

Nice to Have

• Experience with HPC schedulers and various workloads.
• Knowledge of HPC networks and parallel filesystems.

• Gross monthly salary between €5,500 and €6,300 (based on 40 hours), depending on experience.
