We are looking for a Geo Specialist for a government organization in the Randstad area who will play a key role in developing environmental plans and carefully managing geo-information. You will work with current laws and regulations, ensuring that geographical data is fully, up-to-date, and reliably recorded.

In this role, you combine GIS expertise with knowledge of the Environmental Act, enabling colleagues and project teams to rely on your analyses and registrations. As a Geo Specialist, you are of great value in shaping the physical living environment. You work intensively with colleagues from various disciplines and provide geo-information that is crucial for policy development, permit issuance, and spatial planning.

Responsibilities

• Building and managing geo-information within the Environmental Plan.
• Drawing activities in QGIS, including processing datasets and managing area classifications with version control.
• Collecting and interpreting data from zoning plans as input for future planning.
• Structuring geographical data and monitoring the coherence between different locations and themes.
• Managing, checking, and analyzing data within the Basic Registration of the Subsurface (BRO).
• Performing complex geo-analyses to support policy and project assignments.
• Creating maps, visualizations, and dashboards for environmental plans and policy documents.
• Advising and supporting colleagues, project teams, and policymakers in using geo-tools.
• Providing training and workshops on basic registrations and GIS applications.

Requirements

• Higher professional education (HBO) work and thinking level.
• Demonstrable experience in a similar position in combination with the Environmental Act.
• Experience with QGIS and preferably also FME.
• Knowledge of the Basic Registration of the Subsurface (BRO).
• Affinity with spatial planning, sustainability, and digitalization.
• Strong communication skills and a structured way of working.
• A proactive, eager-to-learn attitude and the ability to enthusiastically transfer knowledge.
• Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).

Benefits

• Salary from €3,700 to €5,500 per month based on a 36-hour work week.
• Pension scheme.
• 25 vacation days + 1/2 day per quarter if you are not ill.
• Travel allowance: 21 cents per kilometer (maximum of €250 per month).
• Healthcare allowance: €50 per month.
