Responsibilities

• Identify, pitch, and execute innovation projects that deliver measurable business impact, from concept through working prototype, and transition to permanent ownership.
• Embed with teams across the organization (engineering, sales, security operations, support) to understand workflows, diagnose bottlenecks, and build solutions that reduce toil and increase speed.
• Design and build full-stack solutions in a production codebase, integrating with existing infrastructure and data pipelines.
• Map complex systems end-to-end before building – understanding data flows, failure points, and second-order effects of changes.
• Create playbooks, self-service documentation, and internal demos to enable successful adoption of new workflows at scale.
• Transition successful projects to permanent owners with necessary context and documentation for long-term maintenance.
• Gather direct feedback from customers, partners, and internal stakeholders to inform future development.
• Rapidly prototype, validate with real users, and be willing to discontinue projects that are not working.

Requirements

• Ownership and agency: Ability to lead efforts autonomously as the single responsible person.
• Systems-first thinking: Instinctively map and understand complex systems (actors, flows, dependencies, feedback loops, failure modes) to build the right intervention, not just features.
• Founded or led a business: Experience understanding customer problems, building solutions, selling, supporting, and prioritizing with constrained resources. This experience provides the judgment to operate autonomously in an innovation role.
• Prioritizes outcomes over tooling: Understands when AI adds unique value versus when traditional automation is more reliable. Designs interventions that drive outsized gains for teams.
• Strong, full-stack engineering experience: Ruby on Rails experience highly preferred; Golang is a bonus. Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar codebases and ship production-quality code. Prioritizes reading existing code before writing new code.
• Delivers in stages and transitions cleanly: Decomposes work into incremental chunks that prove value. Transfers projects with ample context to new owners and moves to the next challenge.
• Communicating across audiences without losing fidelity: Ability to adapt communication for detection engineers, sales leaders, and executives without oversimplifying.
• Opinions about operational reliability: Builds with feedback loops, health checks, and validation as integral parts of the process.
• Thrives in ambiguity: Self-driven to identify and pursue high-leverage projects without a predefined backlog or sprint plan.
• Not afraid to fail: Embraces failure as a natural outcome of pursuing audacious, innovative solutions.

Nice to Have

• Experience building internal tools or developer productivity tooling.
• Track record of driving AI/automation adoption in a non-engineering audience.
• Experience in cybersecurity and MSP/MSSP operations or security tooling.
• Familiarity with detection engineering, SIEM concepts, or identity security.
