About the Position
Introduction
Backbase is looking for a highly experienced and technically profound Distinguished Engineer to join their team in Amsterdam. In this role, you will be crucial in shaping the technical direction and success of their platform, driving innovation, solving complex technical challenges, and mentoring engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Define the technical vision and strategy for the platform, aligning with business objectives and industry best practices.
- Architect and design scalable, reliable, and secure solutions for complex technical problems.
- Drive the adoption of new technologies, tools, and processes to improve development efficiency and product quality.
- Mentor and coach engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Conduct technical reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure adherence to engineering standards.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on the platform and recommending appropriate actions.
Requirements
- At least 15+ years of experience in the industry.
- Strong track record of designing, developing, and deploying large-scale, high-performance distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience in cloud-native technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, AWS/Azure/GCP), microservices architecture, and event-driven systems.
- Deep knowledge of software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and mentorship skills.
