Responsibilities

• Design and implement infrastructure for DB2 (LUW) databases.
• Perform management and development activities for Midrange DBMS: DB2 (LUW), Oracle, and Sybase.
• Research, document, and develop technical solutions, including scripting.
• Set up and optimize database infrastructure for critical processes within the organization.
• Contribute to enterprise solutions through high-quality technical expertise.
• Execute lifecycle management and generic administration of Midrange database management systems.
• Realize and implement major DBMS versions and associated management tooling and procedures.
• Provide standby services and support for projects within the DevOps team.

Requirements

• You possess a higher professional education (HBO) work and thinking level, preferably holding an HBO diploma in a relevant ICT field, ideally (technical) computer science.
• You have good knowledge of DB2 (LUW).
• Knowledge and experience with Linux OS.
• Knowledge and experience with high availability solutions for databases.
• You have experience with programming shell scripts.
• Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).

About Company

Currently, the Tax Authorities are looking for a DBMS DB2 engineer. At the Tax Authorities, everything is on a larger scale, including the database infrastructure. As a DBMS DB2 engineer, you will be involved in all management and development activities, standby services, and projects related to Midrange database management systems such as DB2 (LUW), Oracle, and Sybase. You will optimally set up the database infrastructure for various important processes, adding significant value, especially for Dutch businesses.

As a DB2 engineer, your focus will be on designing and implementing the necessary infrastructure for DB2 (LUW) databases. You will conduct research, which involves extensive scripting and documentation, making your role in realizing enterprise solutions exceptionally important. Your work will be entirely focused on implementing technical solutions. You will work purposefully and based on scrum sprints to develop methods that accelerate and clarify the implementation of these technical solutions. Your high-quality technical expertise is essential to ensure all data is in the right place. You visibly enjoy optimizing our database infrastructure to provide a solid and robust foundation for our primary processes.

The DBMS DevOps team handles lifecycle management and generic administration of Midrange database management systems: DB2 (LUW), Oracle, and Sybase. They operate at the intersection of operating systems and applications. Key aspects include database hosting, connection requirements, business continuity management, quality of service, and security. To achieve architectural objectives, the team continuously carries out multiple assignments, ranging from research projects to the implementation of major DBMS versions and associated management tooling and procedures. The team currently consists of 35 employees.
