Responsibilities

• Manage, monitor, and optimize database environments, including improving performance (such as query optimization and index management), storage structures, and underlying infrastructure.
• Analyze data growth and system performance and proactively propose improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate and execute changes, releases, and technical updates, including patch management within database and server environments.
• Support investigations into data-related incidents, both internally and in collaboration with external parties.
• Contribute to architectural issues within data and database platforms.
• Resolve incidents and disruptions within production environments that process real-time data, including potential deployment outside regular working hours.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to test and implement technical innovations.
• Monitor technological developments within database platforms and operating systems and translate these into environmental improvements.
• Support data analysts with complex queries, analyses, and reports, including performance optimization.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation.
• Contribute to capacity management, configuration management, and change processes within the ICT environment.

Requirements

• An HBO degree in a relevant field, or an MBO degree supplemented with extensive work experience and additional vocational certifications in database management.
• Demonstrable experience managing relational databases within a Microsoft environment, including recent versions and enterprise environments.
• Knowledge of database management, monitoring, security, performance optimization, and performing upgrades, migrations, and backup/recovery processes.
• Experience with designing, setting up, and managing data warehouse environments.
• Experience with scripting or programming languages (such as Python) for automation and reporting purposes is a plus.
• Dutch language skills preferred (working knowledge required for this role based in the Netherlands).

As a Database Administrator, you play a key role in data-driven oversight. You are responsible for the management and optimization of SQL databases where data from the database is stored and processed. Reliability, performance, and data quality are essential. You ensure the stability, performance, and security of the database environment so that supervisors can perform effective analyses.
